Rules & objective

Each side starts with 16 pieces, pawns on its third rank and king on its own left. Khun steps to any neighbor; Met diagonally one; Khon diagonally one or forward one; Ma jumps an L; Ruea slides straight without crossing pieces. Bia steps forward, captures diagonally forward and becomes a Met-moving promoted pawn on its sixth rank. No double pawn step, en passant or castling. Keep your king safe; kings are never captured. Mate wins; stalemate, three identical positions with the same mover and kings-only draw. With no unpromoted pawns, a player considering themselves disadvantaged may begin board count: their next move counts 1, limit 64. They may stop/restart anytime; the chaser may accept the counting draw. Mating while still board-counting also draws. Bare-king count starts automatically without unpromoted pawns: next escape move counts all remaining pieces including kings plus 1. Limits are two rooks 8, one rook 16, two Khon 22, two knights 32, one Khon 44, otherwise 64; use the lowest. Captures never reset its fixed limit. An initial total already reaching the limit draws immediately. The chaser gets the final reply at the limit: mate wins, otherwise draw. Selection/hints preview before confirmation; swipes do not move. Counting declarations consume no move. Draw offers need the other player’s acceptance; resignation is available. Undo/redo restore real actions, including computer replies after your action. Labelled practice positions are not standard starts and use the same rules.

Controls

Play directly on the cards or board with mouse or touch. Coordinate selectors are optional keyboard aids.

Worked example

The Met moves one diagonal step, not like a long-range chess queen. Pawns promote at this edition’s designated rank.
